Frequently Asked Questions

Cummins DPF/EGR/DEF/SCR delete tunes

What does DPF/EGR/DEF/SCR delete mean?

It means that this tune turns off DPF/EGR/DEF/SCR system on Cummins engines.
This will allow you to remove all exhaust filters, unplug all emission related sensors, and block off EGR gas flow.

What physical modifications are need after the tune?

Exhaust filters (DPF DOC SCR) have to be bypassed or hollowed out.
Emission sensors must be disconnected.
EGR has to be blocked off.

How long can I drive the truck before doing the needed modifications?

This question is hard to answer.
It depends on the condition of your exhaust filters.
If they are fully clogged, it is not recommend to drive it that way.
If they are not clogged, it is safe to drive it for some time (ex. 30-50 miles).
Driving with clogged filters can cause turbo damage.

On Cummins engines EGR block off plate should be installed at least on one side(cold side is recommended).
Driving Cummins engines with EGR not being blocked off can cause low power or erratic idle.

Warranty cases

Warranty doesn't cover following cases:
• ECM replacement (due to any reason)
• Software updated (example: dealer reflashed the ECM)
• Cracking/readout attempts

Power upgrades?

All our tunes come with OEM approved power upgrade based on CPL number.
We use original power settings(not custom made tuning).
Contact us & provide your engine serial number and CPL on the engine tag, so we can tell you what's the max power.

CPL - what's that?

CPL = Control Parts List.
This number tells which internal parts have been installed in your engine, and what's the max power apporved for it.
You can locate it on your engine tag (on valve cover), it is usually in the upper right angle of the tag.

DEF gauge on Cummins deletes?

DEF gauge is set to show 70-100% full at all times.
You can drain the tank, and it will still show that value.

What happens to EGR on DPF/DEF/SCR tunes?

On DPF/DEF/SCR tunes EGR stays on and fully working.
Do not block it off, in case of any fault codes you will have to fix the EGR.

Fault code PPID 278 FMI 9 in MID140 (After-treatment reagent level)?

A fault code: MID140 (instrument cluster) PPID 278 FMI 9 (After-treatment reagent level) will be present.
It can not cause you any troubles(or warnings), so just ignore it. Reason is that the DEF level is no longer available because it is deleted.

DPF warning message on a MACK truck

On Mack trucks DPF warning message on the dashboard may occur on some instrument cluster versions.
Along with that you might get a lightning bolt or a "check" warning.
These will not have any effect on engine performance, and it is safe to ignore it.
It's pure cosmetic thing.

EPRV - Electronic Pressure Rrelief Valve

On Mack/Volvo OBD2 trucks with commonrail injection, if EPRV is removed then DPF/DEF/SCR delete tuning can't be done.
In order to check if the EPRV is still present, lift the valve cover, and check visually is it there.
EPRV is located on the side of engine closer to engine fan.
Below photo shows how EPRV looks like on truck.

Commonrail vs Non-commonrail - How to tell?

Below photos show example of commonrail and non-commonrail difference.
Commonrail engines have two additional connectors going to engine block.
